This
seminar introduces strategies to help you effectively design and
teach interactive Web conferences for synchronous (live, real-time) online applications. The seminar models how to foster
participation and facilitate active learning with polls,
questions, interactive presentations, and discussion methods. The
meeting format is contrasted with the auditorium format, and tips
for planning and facilitating interactivity are discussed. A case
study and other practical examples in the seminar reinforce
principles and concepts in the Web resources.
Key
Topics
- Orientation to the environment
- Design
and teaching strategies
- Conference preparation and good practice
- Facilitating interaction
- Combining synchronous and asynchronous activities
- Benefits, limitations, technical and other
considerations
Technology Used
The seminar uses WisLine Web (MS Live Meeting) which combines the ease of a telephone conference call with the power of visually interactive Web materials. To participate in the seminar, you simply dial in to the telephone conference call, and also point your browser to the pre-assigned Website to view presentation slides and other visual content.
You will need two lines: a phone line to access the telephone conference and an Internet connection to access the Web. An alternative for those without two lines is to print the slides in advance to use during the telephone conference. (The telephone conference will use a toll free phone line so you will not incur charges.)
