Format: Online self-paced course
CEUs: 1.0 CEU
Prerequisite: Core module 0101, or approval of previous experience with online learning and knowledge of distance learning principles
Facilitator: Nancy Rebholz

This online module is a self-paced introduction to blogs in distance education. You'll learn about blog technology and the variety of ways blogs can support teaching and learning. By reading and exploring examples, you’ll see how blog features can connect learners and build communities. Beyond blog technology, you’ll look at blogging as a learning activity and read what instructors say about the benefits of reflective assignments and the act of writing and publishing for others to read. The module also provides some ideas and guidelines for getting started, finding blog hosting services and software, and addressing participation issues.

As a self-paced course, you can enroll at any time. Upon enrollment, you’ll be given password access to the Moodle course management system, where you'll have access to the course study guide and instructions for assignments. You'll also keep your own blog in Moodle to reflect on what you’re learning.
