Gain an overview of this tool for collaborating, organizing and publishing information on the Web. You’ll learn how wikis work and explore many uses and examples in teaching and learning. This online module provides information on how to grow your wiki, assess participation, and where to find wiki hosting services and software. As a place for exploring and discovery, the module helps you see the potential for using a wiki in your teaching and learning context and suggests ways to get started.
You can enroll at any time in this self-paced course. You’ll set your own pace and choose the resources you want to explore in-depth. There will be opportunities to contribute to a wiki to share ideas with others.
Technology and Study Guide
The home base for your explorations will be in Moodle, the course management system we use for some electives. In Moodle you’ll have access to an online study guide that is presented in a wiki. The study guide allows you to access topics in any order, follow links to additional resources, and view brief demonstrations. You'll complete a wiki planning form and gain limited hands-on experience in editing and writing in a wiki.
