Comparison of track features

The self-paced and collaborative learning tracks make use of the same Certificate Program curriculum, but the tracks differ in scheduling flexibility and how the core modules are delivered. You should consider your own learning preferences in relation to program features when deciding which track is more appropriate for you.

EnrollmentOpen enrollment: you can enroll in the program at any time. After completing 0099 Orientation, you can start with any course but 0101 core module is recommended.Fixed enrollment: you enroll in a schedule of courses that has specific enrollment, start, and end dates.
Scheduling Self-paced: you complete the program at your own pace, establishing a schedule that meets your goals within a two-year time limit.Program-paced: We set the schedule for the core modules to facilitate a one-year completion time.
Core module formatPrint-based format of handbook, audiotape, and videotape. You work independently with guidance and feedback from an advisor.
Project-based learning: Each module requires an application project that is tailored to your needs and work setting.
Print-based with online group: You receive the same core print/tape materials as self-paced learners, but you are a member of a cohort group that works together via the Internet/Web to complete the module.
Activity-based learning: Each module requires online participation in discussion, debates, case studies, mini-projects or other weekly activities. The online activities are asynchronous, meaning you can log on at times convenient to you during the activity week.
Assessment (also see Assessment MethodsCore module projects submitted to your advisor. The fixed structure of this track requires a firm commitment to participate in all weekly online activities and to continue with the cohort group through the four core modules. This track appeals to learners who prefer a consistent schedule, working collaboratively, and group support. Requires good computer and writing skills for the online environment.
