To accommodate different learning preferences, the Distance Education Certificate Program has two enrollment tracks. You may enroll in either the Self-Paced Learning Track (SPT) or the online Collaborative Learning Track (CLT). The tracks have the same certificate requirements except the format of the four core modules differs.
We offer the following options for certificate or non-certificate enrollments:
With Plan A, you receive all the courses needed to complete the 20 CEU Certificate Program. Plan A includes the orientation module, four core modules, your choice of 7 CEUs in standard electives, and the capstone report. Plan A is the recommended option, as it provides a plan of study that meets certificate requirements at the lowest cost. You save $625 or more compared to Plan D. You also are assured a place in the courses you select, an important factor due to enrollment limits.
Plan D-Individual Courses (Self-Paced Track only)
You enroll in the Certificate Program on a course-by-course basis. The first step in Plan D is to enroll in 0099 Orientation Planning. After completing 0099, you select your next course. You pay the individual course fee for each selection. You may choose among any of the core modules and standard electives. The core modules are completed in a self-paced format (Plan D is not available for the collaborative learning track.) To earn a Certificate, you will need to complete all program requirements. This plan provides a great deal of flexibility, but you pay more due to higher administrative costs. It is possible to switch from Plan D to Plan A-SPT if you do so soon after completing the 0099 Orientation module or the first regular course. The Plan D course fees are listed in the Curriculum.
Noncertificate Enrollment-Individual Courses
You may enroll in any of the core modules, audio seminars, or Internet seminars on a noncertificate basis (excludes the Collaborative Learning Track). Completion of project or report requirements is optional unless you wish to earn CEU credits. The individual course fees are listed in the Curriculum.
Group Discount
Save 11% by enrolling two or more individuals from the same organization at the same time (in the same course or enrollment plan).
Plans A and D include the costs of course materials, instruction, advising/consultation support services, feedback on projects and reports, orientation materials, CEU records, and teleconference bridging services. Plan A also includes the registration fee for elective 0002: Annual Conference on Distance Teaching and Learning.
The enrollment plans do not cover long distance telephone charges to be connected into the audioconference seminars. The enrollment plans do not cover transportation, lodging, or other expenses associated with traveling to Madison for the 0002 conference elective.
