Scholarship Opportunities

The Distance Education Certificate Program has two $1,400 scholarships available to cover half of the $2,800 tuition fee to enroll in the Fall 2008 Collaborative Learning Track (CLT) that starts October 1. Scholarship recipients are responsible for paying the remaining half ($1,400) and must commit to completing all requirements in the one-year CLT program.

Application deadline: Received by September 2, 2008.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by September 15, 2008.

Submit: A completed application form and attachments.

Payment responsibilities: The participant's share of the tuition fee ($1,400) is due by November 1, 2008. Payment options include purchase order, check, credit card, or five-month payment plan.

Eligibility Requirements

The applicant must:

Have a need for scholarship monies due to limited organizational or personal resources.
Commit to engaging in the program from start to finish.
Commit to group-based learning, with weekly timelines and activities.
Be prepared to devote at least 10 hours per week in reading, group discussion, and application exercises for a 12 month period.
Have strong individual goals and motivations to develop broad-based knowledge, skills and leadership capacities in distance education.
Be employed in a job position or preparing for a job position that involves at least some responsibilities for distance education.
Not currently enrolled in the Distance Education Certificate Program. Exception: A person enrolled in the Certificate Program who has completed no core modules is eligible to apply, but no refunds are given for any prior fees paid.

Technical Requirements

The applicant must have:

Ready access to the Internet/World Wide Web via a dependable high-speed service provider.
A modern Macintosh or IBM-compatible (Pentium or equivalent) computer with Internet Explorer 6.0 or Netscape 7.2, and multimedia capability.
