UW-Madison- The School of Education has added compressed video capability, using the PictureTel 4000. The equipment is housed at the Instructional Media Development Center and is available for use by School of Education staff and faculty as well as other University, Government, and Non-profit organizations. - Scott Rozman (Distance Ed/Video Producer, IMDC)

UW-LA CROSSE - Compressed video is going very well. We are working through technical problems with the WONDER system. We are currently working with 15 faculty who have received development grants through our Continuing Ed office. I believe the biggest challenge is to convince departments the critical need to pre-market the distance education offerings. There is a perception that if "I offer a course, therefore there will be an audience." A number of our courses have fallen to this problem. We need to convince academic departments that there needs to be a concerted effort to market a proposed class beyond putting it into a class schedule. Close talks with receive sites, student populations, and advertising is needed. Hopefully these things will happen. Other than that we are pushing ahead. The other issue we are working diligently on is to define our level of service for site support.
