eCollege.com (formerly known as Real Education, Inc.) announces a $12 million scholarship and grant program to foster access to online education.


The 100 Degrees Online Grant and Scholarship program will provide $10 million in grants to faculty and universities to build degrees offered entirely online, and $2 million to students in need to take accredited classes and earn complete degrees without ever having to physically go to campus.

Fundable Activities of the grant include:

  1. Faculty stipends for translating courses to the online environment.
  2. Stipends for Faculty Assistants.
  3. Course and campus building services from eCollege.com.
  4. Funds for free computers, free internet access, additional compensation, free books or otherwise assisting faculty in teaching courses online or students taking courses online.
  5. Funds to encourage disadvantaged students to take online courses
