Greetings,

I am looking for a new program to use for my Homework Help facility at Math Goodies. I have a Homework Help Message Board on my site that is very active (100 messages a day). The board optionally uses e-mail to notify subscribers that messages have been posted. I have customized this Perl script to make it blend in with my site.

The board has many advantages, including the e-mail notification which brings people back. In fact, a number of teachers and instructors are answering questions on a voluntary basis in addition to their regular teaching jobs. Responses come fairly quickly (hours or minutes.) A strong sense of community has developed.

However, there are problems with spam and sexually explicit messages. Privacy is another concern. Can anyone recommend another program? Something more sophisticated than a message board -but not terribly expensive?

Thanks in advance,
Gisele
