Mission, vision and goals

Mission
Provide leadership to and work in partnership with UW Extension employees and the community to achieve and sustain diversity and equity for our employees, clientele, and educational partners, and assure compliance with all relevant civil rights laws.
Vision
The UW Extension Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Programs appreciates and understands the value of diversity, and will work to create and sustain it among employees, clientele, and educational partners.
Staff in this department view multiculturalism and pluralism as essential components of our mission and work. Consistent with the UW-Extension Design for Diversity goals, this department will work in partnership with all UW-Extension divisions to attain this vision.
Goals
Work proactively to eliminate the underrepresentation of persons of color and economically disadvantaged people in UW-Extension operations and educational programming.
Educate UW-Extension students, clientele, and stakeholders for an increasingly multicultural society in Wisconsin, our nation, and the world.
Improve recruitment, employment, and retention efforts to assure better representation of minorities, women, and persons with disabilities across all levels of the institution.
Improve outreach efforts to ameliorate the underrepresentation of minorities and economically disadvantaged people in Extension educational programming and on its boards and committees.
Establish and maintain effective relations and networks with minority individuals and groups.
Work proactively to achieve full compliance with federal, state, and local civil rights laws and regulations.
