Wisconsin Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Resource

Your resource site for information on energy conservation.

This web site contains a collection of information on energy conservation and energy utilization for agricultural enterprises. The resources available includes publications, articles, spreadsheets, audit tools, links to other sites and presentations that would be helpful in determining energy conservation options and estimations for energy savings.

Examples of types of energy-saving conservation equipment:

  • Dairy: variable speed vacuum and milk pumps, precoolers, refrigeration heat recovery
  • Irrigation: low pressure center pivot sprinkler packages, trickle irrigation
  • Greenhouses: thermal night curtains, increased space utilization, naturally ventilated structures, central control systems
  • Crop Storage: variable speed fans
  • Grain Drying: heat recovery and new controls on existing dryers, high efficiency dryers
  • Maple Syrup Production: preheaters, economizers, reverse osmosis
  • Lighting: T8 fluorescent, pulse start metal halide, compact fluorescent lamps, long daylighting for dairy cows
  • Beef/Replacement Heifers: frost free waterers, energy efficient lighting
  • Aquaculture: air lift water pumps
