"One bait, one lake ... If you don't use 'em up, don't relocate."

This rock tune proclaims the importance of not moving bait minnows from one lake to another if water has already been added from the first lake to the minnow bucket. This simple act helps prevent VHS fish disease (viral hemorrhagic septicemia) from spreading from an infected to a non-infected lake.

LYRICS: One Bait, One Lake

Well I wake up extra early just to check on the conditions
But any kinda day is a perfect day for fishin'

Grab my pole, my hat, and hit the lake

I meet up with my buddy and my buddy says "wait"
He pointed at my bucket, said "where'd you get that bait"

I said, "Friend, what difference does it make?"
He said lakes can catch diseases too,
And it's our job to take care
To make sure nothing spreads from here to there

So just remember...
One bait, one lake
If you don't use 'em up, don't relocate.
One bait, one lake
And we'll be OK

One bait, one lake
If you wanna fish tomorrow like you're fishing today
Use one bait on one lake
Keep the water safe
