Working with the Private Sector

Preventing pollution in agriculture requires new approaches that build a voluntary commitment to solving the problem. The private sector must be a vital part of the solution. But how do we involve the private sector?

Farm*A*Syst is working with Wisconsin petroleum retailers to reach farmers with important information about petroleum storage tanks.
Partnerships for Pollution Solutions, a voluntary coalition of government agenices such as Farm*A*Syst/Home*A*Syst and private organizations, formed to protect rural water resources and promote agricultural pollution prevention.
This partnership prepared materials designed to help states and communities develop local resource directories that list private as well as government environmental programs for farmers.

A Michigan conference in April, 1996 built on the efforts of the Partnership to promote private initiative.
