Speakerphone Rental and Purchase
Renting Speakerphones from ICS:
Madison area UW and Government departments may rent speakerphones from ICS by the day or a week. For longer periods of time, we suggest renting or purchasing from a vendor, such as those listed under the "Purchase" section at the bottom of this page.
Rental Equipment, Rates and More Information
The PolyCom SoundStation® line of speakerphones allow simultaneous two-way conversation, known as full-duplex, through digital technology for good sound quality. WisLine also uses full duplex technology to connect several sites or people in a multipoint audioconference. Below are three full duplex SoundStation models that work very well with WisLine and for point-to point calls between you and another party. We do not recommend half duplex (voice switching) speakerphones, such as the PolyCom VoiceStation 100 for use on WisLine.
Renting a SoundStation:
ICS does rent, for one time events, speakerphones to Madison area UW and State government departments that are on Centrex (or other analog line) and using WisLine and to users of the Extension Conference Centers (The Pyle Center or The Lowell Center). Quantity of rental units is limited, so make your reservation early.
Check our rates for speakerphone rental (per day).
Contact Instructional Media Services at ICS to determine the best unit for your needs and reserve it for the date(s) you need by phone at 608-262-2706, or email at ims@ics.uwex.edu.
Purchasing Speakerphones:
You may order from one of several vendors. One we have worked with for years is AT Products and SKC Communications Products. UW-Madison's Division of Information Technology also has a web page listing other vendors and info on speakerphones from their Tech Store. Also many local vendors, such as Best Buy, Target, or CompUSA carry popular speakerphones.
