Videoconferencing makes your meetings and classes come alive by virtually bringing your associates or students separated by distance into the room with you. Meet face-to-face with your colleagues, or conduct courses and seminars without travelling across the state, country, or world using the videoconferences services operated by Instructional Communications Systems. You can see, hear and converse with others located hundreds or even thousands of miles away.
I’m Maureen Friend, the videoconference reservations coordinator at ICS, and I’d like to introduce you to our videoconferencing services.
Interactive videoconferencing is a powerful telecommunication tool which transmits live, two-way, video and audio simultaneously between sites with compatible videoconference equipment.
Videoconferencing is easy and affordable -- no special production studios or equipment are needed.
Videoconferencing is flexible and can be combined with multiple media: Text and graphics can be transmitted with a document camera; Computer graphics, documents, web sites, and video recordings can be viewed.
People without access to a videoconference system can participate using an audioconference and speakerphone.
Meetings or classes can be held at University of Wisconsin and State of Wisconsin sites or other private or public locations with compatible equipment, worldwide. More than thirty sites can be connected simultaneously in any combination of high bandwidth phone line or Internet connections. Voice-controlled cameras automatically switch to the site that is speaking, or the conference moderator can select a continuous presence mode, allowing up to nine sites to be viewed on-screen at once.
We’re here to help from the start of your project, through the design process, and after. ICS provides instruction on the use of the equipment, and support and training for presenters. We can assist you with everything from designing your content, to presentation tips, to evaluation techniques. We coordinate the scheduling of the sites in your conference and manage all of the details for you.
ICS always provides technical assistance for your conference. Technicians set up your conference and are always available to troubleshoot and answer your questions.
Videoconferencing saves you time and money by allowing you to reach out to others at a distance without the added costs of travel and downtime from work. Videoconference users report significant budget savings and increased productivity using videoconferences for their meetings, training classes, and team projects.
If you’d like to learn more about how videoconferencing can work for you, just call us at our video reservations number, 608-262-5249 or visit our web site, www.uwex.edu/ics/cv.
