The Organization

Wisconsin Public Radio is the second largest public radio network in the country with two state-wide services, 29 stations, an HD service and broadcasting via the web. WPR has a long history of innovation and programming excellence and currently produces a number of nationally distributed programs and is home to the oldest radio station in the country. WPR is headquartered on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison and has six regional bureaus located around the state.



The Opportunity

Wisconsin Public Radio seeks three goal-oriented individuals in the key position of Corporate Development Representative to secure financial support for both statewide and nationally-produced programs heard on WPR. This is an opportunity to use your sales and relationship-building background to solicit underwriting for Wisconsin Public Radio programming while contributing to the strategic growth of the Corporate Development Department.



Responsibilities

Corporate Development Representatives are responsible for meeting quarterly and annual revenue goals for Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) programming and other related activities. Identifying and securing new corporate funding as well as enhancing revenue from current clients are key responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include representing WPR to the local business community by attending trade fairs and speaking to service organizations. Two positions will be located in the Milwaukee Bureau and one position will be located in the Green Bay Bureau with responsibility for the entire Fox Valley.

Qualifications

The appropriate candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and up to two years full time professional work experience in client service, sales or a marketing intensive environment (a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 or more years of successful experience for intermediate level). S/he must have excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills along with demonstrated ability to make sales or request financial support while maintaining professional resilience. The ability to analyze and interpret data to develop presentations is a necessary job skill. Demonstrated understanding of broadcasting and media as well as familiarity with Wisconsin-based businesses is very desirable. A personal means of transportation is required.



Compensation

The minimum salary for this position is $35,358 ($40,526 at intermediate level) with actual pay proportional to experience. UW-Extension offers a comprehensive fringe benefits package.
