WI Barn Adaptive Use Project
The University of Wisconsin-Extension is attempting to document a number of successful barn re-use projects in the state. This report summarizes just a few of them.

Estimated Costs of Maintenance, Repair and Remodeling - PDF 21 kb
While no information can replace an on-site inspection and detailed cost estimate, this document provides a starting point for owners concerned with the maintenance, repair and remodeling of their barns. These "rough estimates" were developed through telephone interviews with several of the buildings contractors noted in the associated "Short List of Contractors and Consultants."

Listing of Contractors and Consultants - PDF 49 kb
This document identifies a number of building contractors, consultants and architects who have either been referred or have asked to be included in any effort aimed at saving Wisconsin Barns. The University assumes no responsibility for the quality of work or the integrity of those individuals listed.

Supportive Resources and Literature - PDF 37 kb
This document identifies technical information, publications and audiovisual materials that are available to assist barn owners with the process of barn rehabilitation. Where noted, these publications can be found in the various UW-Madison campus libraries or directly from the source cited. Individuals who are not affiliated with the University can borrow these materials through their local libraries using the Wisconsin Inter-Library Services (WILS).
