Wisconsin Public Television's (WPT) "The Wisconsin Gardener Cookbook" is the inspiration for a cooking class and cookbook signing to be held Monday, October 23 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Whole Foods Market, 3313 University Ave. in Madison.
Chef Leah Caplan, executive chef at the University Club and instructor at Whole Foods Market, will create a full dinner menu with original Wisconsin produce recipes selected from "The Wisconsin Gardener Cookbook." Dinner will begin with a "Garden Frittata" appetizer followed by the main course of "Sausage Tortellini Soup" and finish with "'Can't Be Beat' Beet Cake" for dessert.
Shelley Ryan, producer/host of WPT's The Wisconsin Gardener program, will be available at the event to answer gardening questions and sign copies of "The Wisconsin Gardener Cookbook." Each person attending will receive a signed copy of the cookbook as part of the $20 per person admission fee. The cookbook contains 66 recipes submitted by gardeners and cooks throughout the state along with a few favorites from Ryan.
