For the latest returns on races all around the state on Election Night, Tuesday, Nov. 7, Internet users should head to the Wisconsin Vote Web site, http://wisconsinvote.org.
The site, which has provided candidate profiles and links throughout the campaign, will include up-to-the-minute election returns starting at 8 p.m. Nov. 7. The returns on wisconsinvote.org will cover Wisconsin races, including U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress, state Assembly and state Senate.
The Wisconsin Vote Web site is a joint effort of Wisconsin Public Television (WPT), Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
"This partnership has made the Wisconsin Vote Web site an unmatched resource for voters seeking information on the elections this year," said Kathy Bissen, WPT's executive producer for News and Public Affairs. "We're taking our service to the public right on through Election Night, and having live results will make the Wisconsin Vote site THE place to be for Wisconsin election news on the Internet."
In addition to the live returns on the Web, the Wisconsin Vote site will have live, streaming audio of Wisconsin Public Radio's Election Night reporting.
Continuing WPT's groundbreaking work on interactive television, live election returns also will be available via WebTV for users of WebTV Plus. "We're proud to be part of what we believe to be the first-ever local-national partnership involving interactive TV and election returns," Bissen said. "It's a unique way to bring a comprehensive yet personalized news service to TV viewers and Web users simultaneously."
WebTV Plus users watching election returns starting at 8 p.m. on PBS will have an opportunity to go interactive and get up-to-the minute returns on national races provided by The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer or link via the NewsHour to Wisconsin Vote interactive TV and get Wisconsin returns.
With WebTV Plus, it will be possible to go back and forth between state and national returns and to watch the NewsHour coverage at the same time.
WPT is a service of the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
Wisconsin Public Television connects viewers to issues that matter through programming on WHA-TV/Madison, WPNE-TV/Green Bay, WHRM-TV/Wausau, WLEF-TV/Park Falls, WHLA-TV/La Crosse and WHWC-TV/Menomonie-Eau Claire.
