Wisconsin Public Television's (WPT) Dave Iverson will be honored with the Associated Press Carol Brewer Award in a ceremony on April 15 in Milwaukee.
The statewide award commemorates an individual who has made an outstanding, long-term contribution to broadcast journalism.
Iverson, who has been an on-air presence at WPT for 20 years, recently co-hosted his final show of WPT's well-respected newsmagazine, WeekEnd. Iverson is now devoting himself full-time to work on Best Practices 2000, a national election-year initiative, and other special projects.
"It is a true compliment to be recognized by my peers in broadcast journalism," Iverson said. "Working in broadcast journalism has been gratifying and inspiring. Receiving this award just heaps reward upon reward."
The Executive Committee of the Associated Press Broadcast Association, comprised of members of the Associated Press, nominates and selects the annual winner of the award.
Past recipients include, Tom Bier, WISC-TV in Madison; James Hoyt, professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communications; and Henry Lippold, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
