Salt Lake City, UT - A strategic partnership that will revolutionize the way registered nurses access education was announced at the National Student Nurses Association Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. A new online degree program, BSN-LINC, established through a cooperative effort between the University of Wisconsin Learning Innovations (UWLI), University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) and NursingCenter.com, allows registered nurses to earn a Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) in nursing almost exclusively over the Internet.

University of Wisconsin-Extension Conference Centers announced the launch of its new Web site, http://www.uwex.edu/ecc. While using the same address as its predecessor, the new site sports a more current look, and includes a variety of new features not present in the previous site.

WPR producer Carmen Jackson recently was named a recipient for the 2000 Women of Color Award by UW-System. The award, which honors Wisconsin women in higher education for their contributions to diversity and the advancement of women, will be presented at a ceremony in October. One woman of color from each UW System institution and member institutions of the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies will be recognized for her outstanding achievements and the contributions she has made to the university community and, in particular, to diversity.

Vicki Washington, Equal Opportunity and Diversity Program Director, was honored with the 2000 YWCA Women of Distinction Award for her outstanding contributions toward promoting women, diversity and tolerance in her community. Washington's peers nominated her for the award citing, "Vicki's leadership behaviors and community service activities have been an example for all women, particularly for girls and women of color. Her involvement in various community activities and programs reveal her dedication to social justice and desire to help disenfranchised people."
