UW-Extension's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) was awarded a $25,000 Drug-Free Workplace Program grant by the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide information and assistance to small businesses seeking to establish drug-free workplace programs.
During the year 2000, the SBDC will provide workshops at regional locations throughout the state to small businesses seeking information and assistance in developing a Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP). Counseling will also be offered to DFWP training workshop attendees and others through the SBDC campus centers.
UW-Extension's SBDC was one of fourteen in the nation to receive the grant. The U.S. Congress established the Drug Free Workplace Demonstration Program last year. the U.S. Small Business Administration developed the program in conjunction with the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the Department of Labor.
