UW Extension's Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program, the premiere statewide leadership program, has selected 32 candidates from across the state to participate in its next two-year program, 2000-2002. These participants make up Group IX.

The Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program, now in its 17th year, was established to meet the challenge of building the next generation of Wisconsin leaders. The program is for women and men in the early stages of their leadership careers-old enough to have demonstrated their leadership abilities but young enough to make a significant future leadership contribution. Participants have ranged in age from 21 to 55 years of age. Participants come with a broad array of backgrounds and interests as well as a strong desire to actively help solve their community's issues.

WRLP has been recognized for the tremendous impact it has had across the state and beyond. The program's 200 plus graduates have gone on to serve in leadership positions in their local community, county, and state organizations, the Wisconsin Legislature, as well as various national and international committees and associations.
