Distance Education Clearinghouse Receives Double Recognition

The Distance Education Clearinghouse, developed and managed by Instructional Communications Systems (ICS), has recently been recognized by two separate organizations. The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) has named the Clearinghouse one of their 20 top picks for useful training and workplace-related Websites nominated by ASTD conference presenters and staff.

"We are honored that a world-class training organization such as ASTD has identified the Clearinghouse as a leading and valuable website," said Michele Jacques, ICS Information Resources Manager.

The Clearinghouse has also been recently reviewed by the prestigious Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) and as a result, is now included in their well respected collection of scholarly, high quality web sites. To be included in the ISI publication, Current Web Contents, the Clearinghouse had to meet strict standards in the areas of: authority, accuracy, currency, navigation and design, applicability and content, scope, audience level and quality of writing. ISI has delivered a multidisciplinary table-of-contents database to researchers, scientists and information professionals for more than 40 years.

"ISI publications are themselves award-winning and internationally recognized as premier research tools," said Jacques. "High standards of selection -- and data quality -- have made ISI a leader in the information industry. The fact that the Distance Education Clearinghouse is now be included in their database of resources will provide additional exposure to the academic research community."

The Distance Education Clearinghouse is managed by Jacques and maintained by Barb Klein, ICS World Wide Web Coordinator. The Clearinghouse offers resources on program design, technology and network options, program and course offerings, legislative news, and funding sources.
