Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) announced today it is conducting its annual sweepstakes contest in which any state resident over the age of 18 is invited to participate in a chance to win trips and other prizes, including a snow blower, DVD player and boxed WPT video sets.

The University of Wisconsin-Extension today will present 17 awards today to individuals, groups and organizations that have demonstrated their dedication to outreach and extension education programs. UW-Extension Chancellor Kevin Reilly and more than 220 guests will honor award recipients at the annual Extension Awards Banquet on Thursday at The Lowell Center in Madison.

Each day, hundreds of University of Wisconsin students roll out of bed and "attend" class-some still in their bare feet and bathrobes! At other times, these same students attend class in the dead of night, on weekends, or any other time that's convenient. There are no formal dress or location requirements; all they have to be able to do is turn on a computer and log onto the Internet.

Final plans are taking shape for the second Wisconsin Economic Summit, to be held Nov. 26-27, at the Midwest Express Center in Milwaukee. If you have had problems in the past with Asian lady beetles in your home, this is the best time to seal them out or spray. The last week of September and the first two weeks of October are the times to treat for these invasive insects. As the weather turns cool they begin looking for a place to settle in for the winter. Unfortunately, they may choose your house.
