Kathleen Tober is one of just six exemplary 4-H Wildlife and Fisheries Volunteer Leaders in the nation who will be honored at a recognition program in Washington, D.C., in March.
USDA's Cooperative States Research, Education and Extension Service (CSREES) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service selected the outstanding 4-H volunteer leaders for their commitment to 4-H youth education programs and to conservation of natural resources.
Steven Kinzel, UW-Extension 4-H youth specialist in environmental education, said Tober was instrumental in planning and conducting statewide events, including workshops and conferences in shooting sports, sport fishing and adventure programs. She has been an active 4-H leader for 28 years.
She has also developed programs to provide outdoor experiences and environmental education programs for children from city schools and from home school families.
Tober lives on a farm in Walworth County, and she and her husband raised seven children, all of whom were 4-H club members.
