Don't Miss the Eighth annual Governor's Statewide Employment and Training Conference

The eighth annual Governor's Statewide Employment and Training Conference will be held May 7-9 at the Marriott Madison West Hotel in Middleton. Stout Solutions, the continuing education unit at University of Wisconsin-Stout, is a partner in the planning and administration of the program.

Titled "Building Wisconsin's Workforce: Attracting, Motivating, Training and Retraining," the conference will highlight the importance of collaborative efforts in Wisconsin to build, expand and sustain a top-quality workforce. More than 80 workshops on employment and training strategies will be offered.

Topics include "Employee Retention: Once You Get Them-How do You Keep Them?"; "GreatJobsWI.com: Wisconsin's Employment Supersite"; "Making Our Differences Work"; "Successful Career Development Using the Internet"; and "The 'E' Environment-Next Generation."

Speakers include Governor Scott McCallum, Department of Workforce Development Secretary Jennifer Reinert, and Lt. Governor designee Margaret Farrow, who will present awards to exemplary Wisconsin employers who have demonstrated leadership and innovation in the recruitment, retention and training of their workforce.

Microsoft vice President Robert McDowell, and nationally recognized speakers Dale Henry, Bill Karlson, Alyce Cornyn-Selby and Geri Jewell are also scheduled to address the conference.

In addition to UW Stout Solutions, other sponsors include the Department of Commerce, the Department of Workforce Development, the Department of Employee Relations, the Department of Public Instruction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Governor's Work Based Learning Board, the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security, the Wisconsin Association of Job Training Executives, the Wisconsin Council on Workforce Investment, the Wisconsin Employment and Training Association, and the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.
