Homeowners desiring a new or improved lawn are invited to attend the "Practical Methods for Maintaining a Healthy Lawn" workshop Saturday, April 28, at the Boerner Botanical Gardens in Whitnall Park, Hales Corners.

The workshop will feature informative discussions and hands-on demonstrations for proactive, environmentally friendly lawn care. Participants will learn how to calibrate your fertilizer spreader; dethatch your lawn; identify weed, insect and disease problems; and much more.

UW-Extension State Lawn Care Specialists Dr. John Stier and Dr. Chris Williamson are presenting the event, along with UW-Extension Horticulture Agents Sharon Morrisey, Milwaukee County; Patti Nagai, Racine County; Ann Wied, Waukesha County; and John Schluckebier, Kenosha County.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The $25 fee includes a packet of UW-Extension publications and refreshments. Registration is limited and will be taken on a first-come basis. For more information, call 262-857-1945 or 262-548-7775.
