The recent Auction Showcase raised more than $125,000 to support programming on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT).

The 3+1/2 hour televised auction of big-ticket items, donated by community-minded Wisconsin companies, that aired Sunday, June 3, is an important and popular fund-raising event for WPT.

Jon Miskowski, development director for WPT, emphasized the importance of fund-raising events like Auction Showcase. "Community-based funding is becoming more important than ever," he said.

Local individuals and businesses account for more than 30 percent of the funding for WPT through the Auction, memberships and program underwriting.

WPT is a service of the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.

Wisconsin Public Television is a place to grow through learning on WHA-TV/Madison, WPNE-TV/Green Bay, WHRM-TV/Wausau, WLEF-TV/Park Falls, WHLA-TV/La Crosse and WHWC-TV/Menomonie-Eau Claire.
