Public Relations Department 432 North Lake Street Madison, WI 53706 608-262-9871 608-262-8404 (fax) 608-265-9317 (TTY)Livelyhood begins third series with "Making the Planet Work"
While the battle lines over the pros and cons of globalization continue to be drawn in streets and suites around the world, Livelyhood hosted by nationally renowned humorist Will Durst, who grew up in Milwaukee, seeks out the people who are taking whatever steps they can to tackle the toughest challenges of world-wide work. These challenges include the income gap, digital divide, poor working conditions and the homogenization of culture. None of this sounds funny to a comedian, but through these characters viewers discover that humor is a universal language and ultimately, where there¿s a will to make a better world, there¿s a way. ¿Making the Planet Work¿ airs on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) at 9 p.m. Friday, August 31.
Livelyhood is for everyone who works, across all strata of America, ranging from factory and office workers to investment bankers and executives. More than that, Livelyhood is designed to start a conversation about the changing nature of work and its central place in our lives.
This WPT program will explore how the globalization of the world economy is transforming the way we work. With a ¿glass half full¿ approach, Livelyhood goes on a global search for solutions to the growing problems of a smaller world. On the way, the viewer will meet people and businesses pioneering new models, where corporate, employee, and community interests merge.
WPT is a service of the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board and University of Wisconsin-Extension.
