¿Fall is the Time for Planting and Picking¿ on the next edition of The Wisconsin Gardener airing at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, September 30, on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT).
Producer/host Shelley Ryan and her guests discuss peonies for fall planting, when to harvest fall fruit for the best flavor, forcing spring bulbs and how homeowners can identify and control the gypsy moth.
Ryan visits Song Sparrow Perennial Farm in Avalon where Roy Klehm, one of the country¿s premiere peony breeders, features the many varieties of peonies available to home gardeners and explains why it¿s best to plant peonies in the fall.
University of Wisconsin-Extension Horticulture Specialist Teryl Roper gives tips on how and when to harvest fall fruit for the best flavor.
Karen Johannsen of Johannsen¿s Greenhouses & Gifts in Madison shows how easy it is to have beautiful indoor blooms in the winter and discusses which bulbs work best for forcing.
Andrea Diss from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources tells homeowners how to identify the gypsy moth and what to do if they find it in their yard.
