New Non-Credit Certificate to Serve the Aging

With one in five Americans expected to be over the age of 65 in the coming decades, there is a growing need for a range of professionals with knowledge and expertise in aging.

As part of their effort to meet this need, the University of Wisconsin Collaborative Online Gerontology Certificate (OGC) Program is preparing to launch a non-credit certificate this spring. Enrollment for the first four-week course, "Foundations of Gerontology" is expected to open late this fall with the course beginning in January 2004.

OGC, a partnership involving the University of Wisconsin-Extension Division of Outreach and E-learning and nine UW institutions-- UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Parkside, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, and UW-Superior, already offers an online undergraduate credit certificate.
