WPT to Air Governor's State of the State Address Live

Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) will provide exclusive, live television coverage of Gov. Jim Doyle's State of the State Address on Jan. 21. The governor will speak in the Assembly Chambers of the Capitol at 7 p.m.

The broadcast of the speech will be followed by a response from a leading Republican. Frederica Freyberg will anchor WPT's coverage, which will also include comments from guest analysts.

Each year, the governor addresses a joint gathering of the Senate and Assembly to lay out his programs for the coming year.

In 2004, WPT celebrates 50 years of service to Wisconsin individuals and families. WHA-TV, Madison, signed on the air on May 3, 1954. WPT is a service of the Educational Communications Board and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
