Community leaders and organizers, local government officials, state and federal agency professionals, businesses, and community development specialists interested in building stronger Wisconsin communities through leadership development are encouraged to attend the Second Annual Wisconsin Community Leadership Summit to be held April 19 & 20, 2004 at the Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids. Conference hosts include Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc., the Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program, & UW-Extension.
The 2-day Summit is designed to help Wisconsin's community leaders gain skills, share resources, build networks with agencies and organizations that support community development, and celebrate Wisconsin's talented community leadership.
The 2nd Annual Wisconsin Community Leadership Summit will feature two keynote speakers. Opening speaker Dr. Arlen Leholm is the newly-appointed dean and director of the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension Service based in Madison. Dr. Leholm's address to the Summit participants on "Energizing the Human Spirit Through High Performing Teams," will be based on his extensive experience and research on high-performing teams in several countries and sectors. The Monday night awards reception will feature keynote speaker Heath Dickinson, a United States Army trainer. Mr. Dickinson will speak about "The Transcendent Leadership Paradigm" that includes contemporary models and practices, as well as discusses the challenges and risks of leadership.
Participants will have the opportunity to choose from 31 workshops as well as take part in a "Peak of the Summit" full participant workshop entitled "Building Camelot." The Summit also features an interactive sequence of learning stations, and a "Taste of Leadership" buffet reception and awards celebration. The registration fee is $185 per person for both days, or $125 per person per day. Participants registering before March 19 can register at the early bird rate of $135 for both days or $90 for one day.
