"The Wisconsin Gardener" Charts Gardening Contributions From Other Cultures

Shelley Ryan, producer/host of The Wisconsin Gardener, charts the gardening contributions from varied cultures in "From Distant Shores," which airs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22, on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT).

Ryan visits the Tsyunhehkwa Project in Oneida, learning about the importance of specific plants to the Oneida Native-American nation.

From inside the Thai Pavilion at Olbrich Gardens in Madison, Jeff Epping explains how to create a hardy tropical garden in Wisconsin backyards.

Community Garden Coordinator Bill Wright at the Green Bay Botanical Center explains what Hmong vegetables grow best in any state garden.

Liza Litefoot, originally from South Africa and now the owner of Avant Gardens in McFarland, teaches how to create several small bubbling water features for the yard.
