Republican candidates running for the U.S. Senate have formulated positions on these topics and others, and will lay them out in a statewide televised "We the People" Debate at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT).

Culver's Franchising System, Inc. of Prairie du Sac generously supported 4-H youth at the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation's Thirteenth Annual Governor's Sweepstakes Meat Products Auction. Culver's purchased the State Fair Grand Champion Ham, produced by Kickapoo Locker Service of Gays Mills, for $4,500. They also purchased the Champion Cooked Bratwurst, by Louie's Finer Meats, Inc. of Cumberland, for $800. Their total of $5,300 made them the high total purchaser of the evening.

Tony Fairbanks has been selected as the first Native American Youth Development Specialist with University of Wisconsin-Extension and UW-Superior. Fairbanks will be a statewide resource on Native American youth needs and effective programming strategies for Native American youth in Wisconsin.

The University of Wisconsin-Extension's Division of Outreach and E-Learning has reallocated more than $300,000 this year in support of 12 new economic development projects statewide. The new University of Wisconsin Continuing EDvantage program provides start-up funding to new initiatives that create partnerships with Wisconsin businesses, community and government agencies, the nonprofit sector, and the continuing education offices on the University of Wisconsin campuses. Many livestock producers may find themselves short on corn and corn silage as the growing season comes to a close. Heavy rain delayed planting, especially in eastern Wisconsin, and the unusually cool summer has put the crop even farther behind schedule, explained Mike Ballweg, University of Wisconsin-Extension crops and soils agent in Sheboygan County.
