- Low and moderate-income families may qualify for Homestead Credit

MENOMONIE, Wis.—“Households with an income less than $24,000 for 2004 may qualify for Wisconsin’s Homestead Credit,” says Lana Anderson, University of Wisconsin-Extension Family Living Educator for Barron and Dunn Counties. The Homestead Credit a tax credit for renters and homeowners with low or moderate incomes.

MADISON, Wis.—University of Wisconsin-Extension has joined a group of federal, state and local agencies and national advocacy organizations to launch the seventh annual National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW), Feb. 6-12, highlighting consumer protection and education efforts around the country. This year’s theme, “Identity Theft: When Fact Becomes Fiction,” focuses on minimizing the risk of identity theft and taking fast action to contain any harm, if an identity thief strikes.

MENOMONIE, Wis.—The federal government has a plan for putting up to $4,300 into the pockets of lower-income workers. The plan is called the Earned Income Credit (EIC). Its purpose is to reward working individuals and families and give added income to those who may need it.
