Join College Days for your 'education vacation'

MADISON, Wis.-The 42nd annual College Days on June 1-3 will give participants a taste of college life as they attend seminars, tours and lectures presented by University of Wisconsin-Madison and UW-Extension faculty and local experts. College Days has become known as the "education vacation," serving the educational needs of women and men, providing stimulating courses and the opportunity to make new friends on campus.

College Days begins June 1, with a special opening session by Dr. Richard Davidson, who will discuss his ground-breaking research into the nature of happiness in "Be Happy Like a Monk." Seminar topics range from Victorian Theater to 50's TV, from Typhoid Mary to Frank Lloyd Wright, with sessions on Antarctic research, laughter yoga, world political hot spots, home computers, biotechnology, a sing-a-long and more.

Tours will include the UW Nanoworld Discovery Center, the UW Memorial Library's Silver Buckle Press and Special Collections, the UW-Madison Arboretum, the Overture Center and the Governor's Mansion.

The Thursday luncheon will feature storyteller Elfrieda Haese, as she recounts the role that neighborhood taverns played for German-speaking immigrants in Milwaukee. The Mount Zion Baptist Church Gospel Choir will provide Thursday evening entertainment. The concert will be followed by an Aloha! Reception.

To register for College Days, call The Pyle Center at 608-265-2955 or go to the web site at http://www.uwex.edu/ces/flp/conference/ for a brochure and housing information.
