Madison, Wis. – The 11th Annual University of Wisconsin Arlington Dairy Day will be held at the Arlington Agricultural Research Station, N695 Hopkins Road, Arlington, on Wednesday, Dec. 12.
This event is an opportunity for dairy producers and service industry professionals to learn how University research can help them to increase dairy herd profitability, health and productivity. Arlington Dairy Day is sponsored by the UW-Extension Dairy Team and the UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science. The program showcases the latest dairy-related research findings from various departments of the UW-Madison College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Topics and speakers for the program include:
- “Molds and Mycotoxins” -- Mark Cook, Ph.D., UW-Madison Department of Animal Science
- “What can I afford to pay for land?” -- Bruce Jones, Ph.D., UW-Madison Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics
Participants can also choose to participate in four of six breakout session presentations. These session topics are:
- “Intramammary Infection Across the Dry Period” -- Pamela Ruegg, DVM, MPVM UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science
- “Biology and Effects of Spontaneous Heating in Hay” -- Wayne Coblentz, Ph.D., UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science and USDA Dairy Forage Research Center
- “Putting the Least in Least Cost Rations” -- Lou Armentano, Ph.D., UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science
- “Raw Milk Influences Finished Product Quality” -- Scott Rankin, Ph.D., UW-Madison Department of Food Science
- “Optimizing Reproductive Efficiency Using New Management Programs” -- Milo Wiltbank, Ph. D., UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science
- “Handling Sand Laden Manure” -- Brian Holmes, Ph.D, UW-Madison Department of Biological Systems Engineering

The program registration fee is $25 per person if sent by Nov. 30 and $35 per person if sent after that date or paid at the door. The fee includes refreshments, lunch and program proceedings.
