It has been more than 50 years since the first successful organ transplant took place. The documentary A Science of Miracles: The History of Organ Transplantation, airing at 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT), takes a compelling look at the history of human organ transplant.
The program also follows two present-day stories. One is about a wife and mother from Sacramento, Calif., in desperate need of a liver transplant. The second story follows a St. Louis teen in need of a new heart.
Viewers will learn from doctors, support personnel, the patients and their family members about how the last 50 years has made the miracle of organ transplantation possible.
WPT is providing a downloadable PDF outreach guide at wpt.org/creatinghealth on the Web.
