Phillips, Wis. – If you’re a rural landowner who’s interested in ideas on how to manage your land and practice good stewardship, make plans to attend the seventh annual Northcentral Wisconsin Land Stewardship Conference at the Rib Lake High School on Saturday, April 4.
The conference addresses issues that will interest both new and veteran landowners. The keynote address features University of Wisconsin-Extension wildlife specialist Scott Craven, who will speak on “Land Stewardship: Beyond Wildlife.”
The 25 breakout sessions cover topics on woods, water, wildlife habitat, and general land ownership issues. The conference runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes a catered meal and morning and afternoon refreshments. Participants will receive handout packets with background information relating to the conference sessions, and will also be able to view exhibits from private and public organizations that work with landowners and visit with their representatives.
The conference is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Extension Offices, Land Conservation Departments, and Department of Natural Resources Private Lands Foresters in Price and Taylor Counties along with the Upper Chippewa Basin Education program and Pri-Ru-Ta Resource Conservation and Development Council. Attendees will again be eligible for continuing education credits for professional foresters and loggers through the Society of American Foresters and the Forest Industry Safety Training Alliance.
Early bird registration for the conference is $30 per adult (if registered online or postmarked by March 13). Registrations after that date are $40 per person, and regular registration ends March 27. To register online or for more information please click on http://www.uwex.edu/ces/cty/price/ .
