Poisonous Plants of Horses Workshop Planned for Aug. 22

Kenosha, Wis. – Horse and stable owners are invited to attend the Poisonous Plants of Horses workshop sponsored by University of Wisconsin-Extension and University of Illinois Extension. The workshop will be held on Aug. 22, 2009 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Chicago Botanical Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, IL 60022.

Dr. Elysia Christina Schaefer, MS, VMS, University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, will present Poisonous Plants: A Horse Owner's Guide. She will focus on the most common plants that can harm horses. Ellen Phillips, Extension Educator-Crop Systems, University of Illinois Extension, will show how to identifying some of the plants that are at in the garden.

The cost is $25 per person in advance or $35 per person for late registration and walk-ins. The cost for two people from the same stable or family is $40. The registration fee for children under 18 years of age is $10 or $15 for late registration. Registration should be postmarked no later than Aug. 17, 2009. Credit card payments are accepted on the registration website.
