OFFICE LOCATION: This Outreach Specialist will serve two Extension Offices:

  • 60% Time - UW-Extension Green County, 2841 6th St, Monroe, WI 53566

  • 40% Time - UW-Extension Lafayette County 627 Washington Street, Darlington, WI 53530
     

POSITION & PROGRAMMATIC FOCUS: 
The Youth & Family Extension Educator for Green and Lafayette Counties designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. This position will be serving two counties with 60% time in Green County and 40% in Lafayette County.  Youth & Family Extension Educator is an employee of the University of Wisconsin, Cooperative Extension within the Department of Youth, Family, and Community Development. The Youth & Family Extension Educator is also a primary member of the Center for Human Development & Relationships and the Center for Positive Youth Development within the Youth and Families Institute. If appropriate and desired, Extension Educators can affiliate with other Cooperative Extension centers in order to best address the programmatic focus of the position. 

This Youth & Family Extension Educator position will primarily serve the designated counties.  Through this position, this individual will carry out programming that directly addresses the local needs of the community and is approved by the Area Extension Director  and Center Director.  In addition to the focus on Human Development & Relationships, the Youth & Family Extension Educator’s programs will respond to local needs, and will provide a connection to the broader University of Wisconsin research, education, and outreach resources. 

Currently, the program focus in both counties is in the areas of parent education; family support for transitions, such as managing divorce or caring for aging relatives; working with county partners on issues affecting families, such as school readiness; and family health. Other areas for programming may include youth development, youth in governance, parenting skills, housing, financial education, aging population, food safety or security.
