The Youth & Family Extension Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. Youth & Family Extension Educator is an employee of the University of Cooperative Extension within the Communities Institute of the Department of Youth, Family, and Community Development. The Youth & Family Extension Educator is also a primary member of one of the centers within the Youth & Family Institute, the Center for Positive Youth Development or the Center for Wisconsin 4-H. If appropriate and desired, Extension Educators can affiliate with other Cooperative Extension centers in order to best address the programmatic focus of the position.
This Youth & Family Extension Educator position will primarily serve the designated county, counties, or tribe. Through this position, this individual will carry out programming that directly addresses the local needs of the community and is approved by the Area Extension Director for their area and Center Director. In addition to the focus on Human Development & Relationships, Positive Youth Development or Wisconsin 4-H, the Youth & Family Extension Educator’s programs will respond to local needs, and will provide a connection to the broader University of Wisconsin research, education, and outreach resources.
This position will be expected to build and maintain relationships with the Hmong and Hispanic/Latina/o communities and agencies who serve this public in Dunn County. The educator will also be expected to create and implement a plan of action to develop a sustainable, linguistically and culturally relevant youth development program within traditionally under-served communities.
