Geological Samples Coordinator

Position Summary: 
Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS), this position is responsible for curation, which is the ongoing development, management, preservation, and maintenance, of the WGNHS’s collection of geological samples. The position provides significant contributions to the management of associated data. The collection includes bedrock core, hand samples, thin sections, sediment samples, water well cuttings, and other samples, as well as related maps and documents. This position is responsible for providing access to the collections including research assistance and responding to inquiries for information. Finally, this position assists in promoting public and academic attention to collections. The sample collections are primarily housed at the Mount Horeb Research Collections and Educational Center (MHRCEC), and it is expected that a portion of the coordinator’s time will be spent at MHRCEC.
