Thanks to everyone who helped make Outreach Scholarship 2003 a tremendous success!
More than 400 people participated, representing 68 universities and colleges from 33 states. They took part in more than 150 presentations and workshops addressing a rich assortment of activities and issues related to outreach and university-community engagement.
Sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Extension, The Ohio State University, and The Pennsylvania State University, this annual conference provides an unrivaled opportunity to explore ways that universities are achieving tangible, positive impacts for local communities and society at large. In 2004, we will welcome a fourth co-sponsor, the University of Georgia.
If you agree that colleges and universities can be the "lighthouse beacons" that help people get their bearings and stay on course, please consider joining us for Outreach Scholarship 2004, on October 3-5 on the Penn State campus.
Thank you!

A message from University of Wisconsin System President Katharine Lyall
In Wisconsin, we believe that the university's boundaries are the boundaries of the state. This is the "Wisconsin Idea," which forms the basis for an engaged approach to teaching, research and service. I hope that you will contribute to the important dialogue on this subject at Outreach Scholarship 2003, and share your ideas about strengthening the connections between institutions of higher education and the society we serve.
