73 YEARS TOGETHER: WACEC and UW-Extension

The Wisconsin Associated County Extension Committee Inc. (WACEC) provides major support for UW-Extension programs

Supervisors from each of Wisconsin's 72 county boards make up WACEC's 360-plus membership. WACEC members are the link between county governments and Cooperative Extension, the University of Wisconsin-Extension division that provides community-based programming in agriculture, nutrition, economic development, natural resources, youth development and more.

WACEC members play many roles: advisors, investors and ambassadors. They help UW-Extension tailor programs to address local needs. Together, they represent a combined investment of nearly $20 million in county funds that supports a statewide Cooperative Extension network. And each spring, selected WACEC volunteers travel to Washington, D.C., for the Public Issues Leadership Conference, where they broaden their understanding of public-policy issues and advocate for more than $19.3 million in annual federal support.
