About the State Climatology Office:

The State Climatology Office is located on the University of Wisconsin campus in room 1353 of the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Science building, 1225 W. Dayton Street in Madison. Office hours vary, but we're generally open from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Administratively, the State Climatology office is part of the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey , University of Wisconsin-Extension. The office is currently staffed Lyle Anderson, Program Assistant. The State Climatologist's position is vacant at this time.

We answer over 4,000 calls, letters and e-mail messages each year on a variety of topics. In general, we do not provide expert testimony or weather forecasts. However, we can provide NOAA climate data publications which are certified and considered suitable for court as well as references to private forecasting groups or other experts. Our specialty is historical Wisconsin data, especially temperature and precipitation data, but we have access to many other kinds of information for thousands of locations around the world as well. The brochure, State Climatology Office: Your Resource for Weather and Climate Information, describing our office is available for downloading or from the address below.
