Summer 1997 in Wisconsin


    Summer 1997 (June through August) was characterized by cool moist conditions across most of the state.  The statewide average temperature was about one degree below normal, continuing the cool trend which began in the spring.  Statewide precipitation was about two inches above normal, making for a good corn crop in the agricultural regions of the state.  Southern Wisconsin was especially moist, with more than three inches of rainfall above normal in most places.
