Welcome to the University of Wisconsin Milking Research and Instruction Laboratory Web Site

We Have a New Site

The UW Milking Lab Web page has been merged with the brand new UW Milk Quality Web site and you will be redirected there. Look for the “Milking Systems” tab for new and old items from the UWMRIL page. This MRIL site will remain active for those of you who may have linked to some of its resources. New material will be posted only on the new site so check out all our latest postings.

milk cup attachment pictureThe University of Wisconsin Milking Research and Instruction Laboratory (UWMRIL) was founded in 1990.  Since then it has become an internationally recognized center for research and education on machine milking.  The lab's faculty and staff have been active participants in the development of US and International standards for milking machines, machine milking activities of the International Dairy Federation, and regulatory review of automatic milking systems in the US.

This website is designed to provide you with the latest information from the UWMRIL.  Publications on various subjects can be downloaded by clicking on the side bar links or the links below.

Want to visit the lab?  The MRIL is housed in the Biological Systems Engineering Department Laboratory at 540 Elm Drive on the UW-Madison campus.
